NHS Fife has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Pharmacist to provide maternity cover to deliver pharmaceutical care to patients across our Mental Health Service at Stratheden Hospital. As part of the clinical team you will provide pharmaceutical input to the 8 wards covering general adult, rehabilitation, old age and forensic psychiatry. Support will also be provided to the community mental health services in Fife.

The work will involve ensuring the safe, effective and economic use of medicines, by the delivery of high quality pharmaceutical care so patients get the best possible outcomes from their medicines, and avoid harm and waste. You will be a team worker and have the ability to act independently, managing your own work load and that of others. You will possess excellent organisational skills and will function as a key member of the NHS Fife Specialist Mental Health Service.

You will also be involved in education and training of other professionals and facilitating the implementation of local and national guidelines. You will also have involvement in our local multidisciplinary patient safety initiatives. You should have a sound clinical knowledge and a commitment to high standards of pharmaceutical care. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. You will be a registered pharmacist with a background in hospital, primary care or community pharmacy. Experience of working in more than one of these areas would be advantageous. It would be desirable to have previous experience of working within a mental health environment. This may be an opportunity to gain experience of delivering services within a richly rewarding specialist clinical area. A relevant post-graduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience is essential. An independent prescribing qualification is desirable. Applicants should be flexible and be willing to travel throughout fife.
