Welsh Speaking Teaching Assistant
Start date ASAP, full time for one year to be reviewed for potential extension or to become permanent.
A Teaching Assistant job has become available for a fluent Welsh speaking LSA, to support in a small and friendly mainstream Welsh medium Primary School in Cardiff. This job is to start as soon as possible, is full time, and confirmed for one year. The contract will then be reviewed to continue or could become permanent for the right person.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the team at a growing, well-resourced and forward thinking school. You will be working to support pupils within the Reception Class. You will work closely with the class teacher to set up and deliver learn through play activities as outlined by the Foundation Phase Curriculum. You will work with small groups of children, supporting them to complete learning activities that will help them to achieve developmental milestones. You will also feedback to the class teacher on the progress of the children, offering suggestions of areas for development where appropriate.
The Headteacher is looking for someone who is enthusiastic and positive, who will make a good contribution to creating a happy learning environment for the children. You will praise and encourage the children, helping to build their confidence and making them feel safe and secure. The classroom is very busy and so you will need to be proactive and use your initiative.
The Headteacher is keen to ensure that the children are supported in all aspects at all times, so it will be important that you are genuinely passionate about working with young children, and nurturing young minds as a positive influence and role model to them. The staff at the school are extremely friendly and welcoming. They all share the same goal of driving the success of the school and its children forward. Someone with a friendly nature and good team-working skills would be well suited to this role.
In order to apply for this role you will need to have;
Complete fluency in all aspects of the Welsh Language Experience of working with children within the Foundation Phase within a Primary School/classroom environment
Good knowledge of the Foundation Phase curriculum/learn through play/Early Years Education
Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
A genuine passion for working with young children
