Lancashire Teaching Agency (LTA) are working exclusively with a school in the Lancaster & Morecambe area to appoint a Learning Mentor to join them in February.

The role will be covering for a maternity leave and will be working 5 school days, approx. 30-35 hours per week.

The ideal candidate will:
* Hold a relevant level 3 (or higher) qualification
* Have experience supporting children with emotional, or special educational needs.
* Have experience working in a relevant classroom/service environment
* Have experience working as a Learning Mentor, or a similar role.

The role will involve:
* Assisting in resolving relationship issues between pupils
* Participate in home visits to support pupils and discuss issues and progress
* Manage the supervision of pupils excluded from or not otherwise working to a normal time table
* Supporting pupils with a varied range of emotional difficulties
* Working with external agencies, to best support the pupils
* Liaising with pupils, parents and outside agencies
* Conversant with appropriate paperwork, and able to work within current policies
* Working closely with SENDCo, other learning mentors and family support officer, to deliver support interventions across school.
* Play a significant role in supporting and children who are withdrawn from class.

The candidate will show:
* A high degree of personal resilience to enable successful and consistent support for children who exhibit challenging behaviour or who have experienced personal trauma.
* A high level of commitment to meeting the differing needs of vulnerable children and families
