Salary G7 £24,717- £29,033 per annum

ICT Technical Services are responsible for the provision of ICT Service Desk, Infrastructure (Data Centre, Networking and Desktop), Applications Development and Support Services and Print and Design services for the whole of the Council and partner organisations.

The successful candidate will be joining ICT at a time of growth as we work together to help move Walsall council towards achieving its Digital Transformation agenda. This important post will operate within the Application Support team.

You will have experience in a 2nd or 3rd line support role, and will be able to provide a high standard of application support for ICT applications used by the various Business Areas of the Council.

The candidate will be required to assist Senior Application Support and Development Specialists in any software development activities relating to the support of these Business Applications. The candidate should be familiar with Microsoft Office products, and most of the following development technologies: Visual Studio 2010 or higher, .Net Framework, VB, C#, Model View Controller, Pearl, Java, SQL, Transact SQL, XML, jQuery, E-Forms, MS Access, DNN, GIS

The candidate will be used to independently dealing with support calls, and working cooperatively with colleagues to resolve outstanding calls.

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The postholder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.

For this role the successful candidates must undergo a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check. BPSS is the minimum standard to ensure the identity and integrity of an employee who has access to official information using secure networks linking central government and local authorities. A BPSS check involves four main elements; Identity Check, National and Immigration Status, Employment History (last 3 years) and Verification of Criminal Record (unspent convictions only).
