RAIGMORE HOSPITAL, INVERNESS

CONSULTANT OPHTHALMOLOGIST

£78,304 to £105,570

MS12.17.27

We are looking for a Consultant Ophthalmologist with a special interest in Oculoplastics to compliment the Department based at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness.

Applications for part time and/or flexible working will be actively considered.

The successful candidate will join a team of eight other Consultants; one Associate Specialist; two Specialty Registrars; four Orthoptists and four Optometrists.

Current subspecialty interests provided by the department include vitreo-retinal, oculoplastics, glaucoma, cornea/anterior segment, paediatrics and medical retinal. Workload is sufficient to allow duplication in some areas of specialist interest.

The successful candidate will also be expected to continue a General Ophthalmology interest with visits to Orkney, Wick, Skye or Fort William, possibly forming part of the agreed job plan. The appointee will participate in the 1:7 on-call rota. The post also offers the opportunity for a certain amount of both Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching.

There are plans to completely redesign the Eye Department on a new site on the adjacent University campus with the intention that this represents ‘state of the art’ management of ocular conditions, with an emphasis on new imaging technolology allowing for remote and virtual working.

The new building will be developed in close collaboration with the University.
