A great opportunity for an organised and proactive administrative professional to develop efficient systems at SafeWise Weymouth Centre and support our team for growth during 2018.

What SafeWise do

SafeWise is a charity which runs experiential safety, health, citizenship and life skills education centres in Bournemouth and Weymouth, with a third centre planned for Swindon/Wiltshire in 2019. These centres feature full size scenarios such as streets, pedestrian crossings, buses, trains, fire and home safety scenarios, with exciting plans for future development. They teach visitors of all ages a wide range of skills for life such as fire, water, home, road and travel safety, health, crime, internet safety, bullying and mental wellbeing. These skills for life are often marginalised in our education system, but SafeWise think they are as important as literacy and maths.

What SafeWise believe

Their philosophy is that every visitor should experience a fun and immersive learning environment in which they 'discuss, decide and do', rather than simply listening and being told. Talk, decision-making and practical activity in their realistic scenarios deliver memorable learning and motivate visitors in a way that is difficult to replicate in a classroom.

What we are looking for

SafeWise are looking for an organised and proactive administration professional who can create and manage efficient systems at Weymouth that facilitate a positive customer experience and enable the rest of the team to focus on their own roles. They will work closely with the Centre Manager, Education Officer and central charity Business Manager to this end.

This will include bookings, invoicing, organising staffing and volunteer rotas and diaries, dealing with queries and making sure facilities are ready. You will also be required to manage our volunteer database, support school visits and lead briefings where necessary.

The successful candidate will have a calm, friendly and positive approach, equally comfortable when working with visitors, volunteers and staff.

The detailed bit

They'd like our new Centre Co-ordinator to start as soon as possible, although they will wait for the right candidate. This is a part time post of a flexible 21 hours a week around core hours and job requirements. It is a one year contract in the first instance with the intention to extend depending on income generation. You would be based at SafeWise Weymouth but required to attend meetings and training at our HQ in Bournemouth and elsewhere on occasions. The post holder must be willing to work out of hours from time to time. This post is not currently suited to job share.
