We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Speech and Language Therapist (Acute Services) to join our Neurological Rehabilitation unit at The Wellington Hospital in St Johns Wood, London (NW8 6PD). Our Speech Therapy department provides a high quality service to rehab and acute in-patients with communication, cognitive and swallowing problems.

Job Description
As a Lead Speech and Language Therapist you will be responsible for leading the activities of the Speech and Language Therapy Services on the Acute Inpatient Services. This involves leading and clinically supervising a team of adult Speech and Language Therapists. * Job Type: Part-Time, permanent role. * Hours: 30 hours per week (Split across 4 or 5 days). * Salary: £43,801 - £49,901 (Pro Rata) plus HCA benefits package. * Benefits: Structured career development, funded courses, health and wellbeing support system, private pension, private medical care cover and much more.

* Lead, develop and provide a high quality Speech and Language Therapy Services on all the acute inpatient wards across the hospital, including Neurosurgery and Intensive Care Units. * Work closely with the Clinical Services Manager to establish and promote the delivery of high quality treatment, including implementing quality initiatives and quality assurance methods. * To assess and treat inpatients with communication, cognitive and swallowing problems and provide comprehensive initial and ongoing assessments for each patient. * Identify individual training needs in order to ensure that a high level of professional and clinical skills are maintained within the department. * Work as an effective team member of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary teams; organising team meetings and in-service programmes, and driving initiatives and developments for the service.

Skills & Experience
* Registered member of RCSLT / HCPC. * Highly specialist experience in neurology field with experience working within an adult, inpatient setting including work on ITU. * Advanced knowledge and skills in Videofluoroscopy and the management of patients who have tracheostomy tube in-situ. * Knowledge of alternative and augmentative communication systems with experience of FEES. * Involvement in audit and/or service development activities. * Supervisory and team leadership experience. * Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with consultants and other Specialists as well as the flexibility to respond to the needs of the department.
