RM18906 - Locum Consultant General Surgeon
The Surgical Unit at Dr Gray’s Hospital consists of five Consultant General Surgeons and one Associate Specialist with complimentary special interests. This appointment offers a unique opportunity to practice Surgery in an area of Scotland renowned for its outstanding quality of life. The Hospital has undergone extensive expansion and renovation in recent years, creating an attractive District General Hospital to serve a population of about 132,000. Dr Gray’s Hospital has a Cancer Unit, with excellent clinical networks with the Cancer Centre at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. Supporting staff include three Specialist Trainees, four Foundation Doctors and six Specialist Nurses.
The post requires wide experience of Elective and Emergency General Surgery. A special clinical interest apart from Arterial Surgery would be welcomed. Emergency Surgery is a 1:5 rota. The Surgical Unit trains Specialist Trainees, Foundation Doctors and final year Medical Students.
Dr Gray’s Hospital is situated in Elgin, the county town of Moray. The surrounding area from the Southern shores of the Moray Firth through Strathspey and on to the Grampian mountains is considered to be of outstanding natural beauty. Quality of life is high, with excellent schools, affordable housing and superb recreational facilities.
This is a full-time post, however there will be a basic requirement for an additional 2 EPAs.
