Paralegal - Mental Capacity
Our client is a leading law firm with an excellent reputation
They are looking to recruit a paralegal for the Clinical Negligence, PI and Mental Capacity Team in Bristol, particularly focusing on the Mental Capacity Group
To work with senior fee earners to offer support to the client base as required.
To carry out research into legislation, case law etc as required
Attend and take notes of meetings as well as attend court with counsel
To draft relevant documentation and provide administrative support to senior fee earners as required.
To ensure appropriate quality service and compliance for all matters in accordance with agreed standard policies
To consistently meet all KPI and targets and any other broader objectives as agreed on a quarterly and annual basis as part of the Team plans
To be a role model for the firm’s values and encourage the others to do the same
Skills and Attributes
A basic knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act.
A basic knowledge of Legal Aid Agency schemes.
A flexible and enthusiastic approach and the capability to work well and flourish within a team environment.
The ability to undertake research and produce required reports
The ability to meet deadlines and prioritise effectively
Excellent all round communication skills including the capability to develop and maintain strong client relationships
Ability to collaborate and work effectively with other colleagues internally, both within the wider team and across all practice areas.
The ability to understand and follow policies and procedures within the Firm, in particular:
Managing account balances
Managing your own debtors
Providing access rights for your calendar, mail box and voicemail and your Lexcel supervisor to ensure that these are checked in accordance with Standards of Service (see below)
File management in accordance with Lexcel procedures
Proven commitment to working within a quality standard environment
Commitment to ongoing professional and personal development including self awareness and self reflection and continuous improvement
