My client, a leading specialist machinery manufacturer based in Cambridgeshire, are looking to recruit an experienced Health and Safety Officer to join their team in a newly created role for the business. With a huge amount of growth in the last 12-18months, and further growth expected in 2018, this is the ideal time to join my client and stamp your mark on the business and its health and safety processes going forward.

As Health and Safety Officer, you will report directly into the Operations Director, and be the lead H&S contact on site for both internal and external contacts and ensure the business objective of ISO18001 compliance is achieved. You will be expected to be responsible and co-ordinate, support and advise the business on all aspects with regard to health, safety and welfare. You will establish, monitor and manage standards, processes, training and systems relating to H&S, and that all associated responsibilities are adhered to. You will also be expected to promote a positive Health and Safety culture across the wider business.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

- Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health or safety
- Ensure that all existing health and safety policies, risk assessments, procedures, rules and 'safe systems of work' (SSOW) are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated
- Co-ordinate the development of any new H&S policies , SSOW and procedures
- Ensure that the company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare to work, including statutory training and reporting
- Maintain the accident and near miss database, and prepare reports for H&S committee, management meetings and the board.
- Administer the investigative processes of all accidents and near misses providing recommendations to senior management

Ideally you will have 3years + experience in a similar role within a machinery build or manufacturing based environment, and be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the routes and processes required to lead a business towards ISO18001 accreditation. You will be qualified to at NEBOSH General Certificate level, and possess accreditation to IOSH as part of your skill set. A proven track record of delivering a safety conscious working environment with a strong H&S policy and safety aware workforce, will be a key part of the interview process and candidates should expect to be questioned on their involvement and leadership of projects associated with this.
