Our client is actively looking for a Head of Conferences to join its vibrant Events team in London.

The Drum is Europe’s biggest marketing website, with a fair chunk of international traffic, too. They also provide a range of publishing services, and our awards and events are legendary in the marketing world.

In addition to strong growth across the UK, they are rapidly expanding in North America and Asia.

The Role
This role is to lead and develop the Conferences team to deliver the portfolio of events to the highest level of standards for our customers, whilst achieving the business plan targets.

  • To help achieve the set financial targets across the group through the management of the conferences team.
  • To recruit and retain high calibre staff, training accordingly.
  • Responsible for organising conferences that you are personally looking after and to achieve those targets and KPIs.
  • Researching and recruiting speakers of the highest calibre and looking after them.
  • Researching and contacting potential attendees, selling them into the benefits of entering.
  • Ensuring sponsors are looked after and sponsorship packages are fulfilled.
  • Always keep relevant websites up to date.
  • Oversee the relevant social media accounts.
  • To negotiate with suppliers and responsible for liaising with venues and finalising full conferences calendar.
  • To contribute to annual business plans for conferences division, assisting in setting targets.
  • To be aware of activities across the business and ensure cross-working with other departments to assist both the events division and the other departments to achieve their goals.
  • To ensure that company processes/systems are followed.
  • Ensure all team members understand what is expected of them and what they can expect in return through positive and constructive feedback via regular 1-2-1’s and annual appraisals.
  • Network with conference guests and represent the company in an appropriate manner.
  • Any other relevant tasks as required.
