In relation to Special Projects assignments, a Senior Manager will undertake certain projects, and will oversee the wider team ensuring that all work is carried out profitably and on a timely basis in accordance with the firm's professional standards and to the satisfaction of clients and engagement partners.

In relation to Special Projects assignments, a Senior Manager will undertake certain projects, and will oversee the wider team ensuring that all work is carried out profitably and on a timely basis in accordance with the firm's professional standards and to the satisfaction of clients and engagement partners.

Main responsibilities Operations and results

  • Negotiates fees commercially and is robust when challenged on fees
  • Understands and applies a strong risk management policy, enforcing an effective client take on procedures
  • Consistently achieves deadlines and understands the commercial implications of actions relating to productivity, recoverability, fee income and client service
  • Accurately records time spent, documents reasons for overruns and agrees additional fees with client
  • Manages client and departmental expectations of resources and deliverables
  • Ensures the special projects team have a balance between client work/developing their skills and business development activities
  • Strives for continual improvement of self and the team, including on-going development of the service offering
  • Instrumental in setting budgets and forecasts for the team monthly/annually and monitoring actual amounts invoiced against target fees
  • Monitoring pipeline of work continuously and working with partner to ensure that pipeline remains strong
  • Achieves the trust and respect of clients, establishing excellent working relationships with all key players in the client's business
  • Recognised as an expert on complex and significant special projects assignments, and has a breadth of hands on experience to support this
  • Leads and manages team to meet client and firm requirements
  • Ensures that the quality control of written outputs is maintained and consistently adopted by the team
  • Takes the lead on dealing with large, complex clients with minimal partner input
  • Provides highly effective team leadership by motivating and mentoring managers
  • Ensures the effective allocation of the team on assignments taking overall responsibility for ensuring team are fully occupied, and leads team development in order to maximise efficiency
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of risk management process and drives a risk management culture
  • Acts upon feedback received, seeking to continually improve on areas of strength and developmental needs
  • Manages, motivates and coaches team members and provides feedback through regular communication and timely appraisal whilst being familiar with relevant training and development options
  • Builds profile within the Yorkshire office 'internal market' to identify opportunities from the wider team (Sheffield and Leeds)
  • Establishes a high market profile and is well recognised in the local market
  • Acts as a principal in leading business development activities for the team
  • Leads others in developing their sales and marketing skills

Who we're looking for:

Experience in a deal origination role, ideally in the financial services sector

Experience in corporate finance functions of accountancy firms or banks
