An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced pharmacist to participate in the provision of high quality pharmaceutical services within NHS Ayrshire & Arran. This is a rotational post between University Hospital Ayr and Crosshouse.

You will be responsible for delivering a highly specialised clinical pharmacy service to patients accessing care within NHS Ayrshire & Arran. This is a rotational post and you will gain experience in a number of clinical areas including the Clinical Assessment Units (CAU) on both University hospital Ayr (UHA) and University hospital Crosshouse (UHC) sites intermediate care and enablement service (IC&ES) Arran war memorial hospital care of the elderly medical specialties and other general medical areas as part of a rotation. This is in addition to supporting pharmaceutical services provided from the dispensaries on both UHA and UHC sites. Both CAUs demonstrate a new way of working involving the use of multiple ambulatory care pathways rapid assessment early senior clinical decision-making & care involving the multidisciplinary team. You will need to possess excellent communication skills interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary team and have relevant hospital experience.

We support development of our staff and applicants not currently holding a practice prescribing certificate will be supported to complete this. NHS Ayrshire & Arran benefits from automated dispensing and electronic prescribing (HEPMA and CEPAS). The Board has a large number of pharmacist prescribers working in secondary and primary care to support patient-centred care in accordance with Prescription for Excellence.

You will participate in weekend public holiday and extended hours rotas as required in addition to the on-call rota. In accordance with AFC terms and conditions you may be required to work over 7 days and or an extended working day.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week - working 7.5 hours per day on different shifts (08:00 - 16:00) and (12:00 - 20:00 hours within the combined assessment units). Main department hours: 08:30 - 16:30
