Head of Finance Shared Service Centre

Bristol - commutable from Gloucester, Cheltenham, Bath, Swindon, Somerset, Wiltshire

£65,000 - £75,000 plus excellent benefits and bonus

My professional services client is looking to transform the finance functions across their various businesses. The SSC Leader will manage all aspects of people, processes, and practices, with a goal of delivering best-in-class efficiencies and service to the operating companies within the SSC. The SSC will support a broad range of finance processes including general accounting, project accounting, financial reporting, accounts payable, vendor management, accounts receivable, billing and payroll.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Steer aspects of the Shared Services Centre roll out including contributing to the design and development of the Shared Services model and subsequently overseeing the implementation and transition of organization structure, staff roles, processes, operating procedures, systems and facilities
  • Act as a business advisor for general management and business functions to refine the strategy and operations of shared services
  • Contribute to the definition and monitoring of service levels of the SSC. Continuously work to improve performance
  • Continuously work with the local finance leadership of the operating companies, ensuring that the service expectations as described in the SLA are being met
  • Provide environment in which outside auditors from clients, tax authorities and the Group Financial Controller can perform their duties in an efficient and successful manner
  • Contribute towards the management of both the relationship with and service level performance of any third-party providers
  • Management of relationship with Group external auditors

Key skills include:

  • Professionally qualified Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA/CA) or equivalent experience
  • Previous finance experience including operational management experience with a focus on process standardization and improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication and presentation skills
  • Strong management skills with the ability to influence others
  • Track record of successful interaction with all levels within the organisation
  • Experience of successful involvement in transformational programmes an advantage
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic and changing work environment and work in cross-functional teams
  • Good professional judgment, tact, and decision-making ability
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • The ability to multitask while still maintaining a sense of humour
