Underwriting Manager (Bridging Finance)

Swiss Cottage - London


An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Bridging Finance Underwriting Manager to join an established lender specialising in bridging and short-term lending.

Duties

  • Underwriting and approving bridging/ BTL/second charge loan applications in accordance with the Company’s lending policy.
  • Considering and recommending any cases outside the lending policy to the Board.
  • Dealing with all underwriting queries, resolving issues and decisions in principle for new cases.
  • Ensuring all cases have a robust documented rationale for the lending decision.
  • Reporting to the credit committee.
  • Liaising with Solicitors and Valuers when necessary.
  • Overall monitoring of cases.
  • Following up on post-completion matters, if necessary.
  • Identifying improvements to procedures and processes, working within other areas of the business.
  • Flexibility to assist with the wider needs of the business as and when required.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Previously worked in a specialist lender ideally dealing with both commercial and residential security preferred
  • Experience in bridging/BTL/second charge lending as an Underwriter is a necessity
  • Thorough understanding of the UK mortgage and bridging finance market and how different processes apply to different products
  • Detailed understanding of organised fraud / money laundering and the measures / systems in place to avoid it

· CeMap qualified (preferred)

  • Knowledge of regulated lending (MCOB) an advantage
  • Ability to prioritise effectively to manage multiple underwriting functions
  • Proactive, hardworking and flexible
  • Good communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to work on your own initiative but also as a team player in a fast-paced office environment
  • Good IT skills

Salary & Benefits:


£45,000 to £60,000 per annum (dependent on experience) + bonuses
