Job Scope

The Sales Manager is responsible for proactively driving the performance of the business by living the values, owning and delivering success for their area of responsibility. This will be achieved through inspirational leadership of own bought and concession teams, challenging and driving a positive change in behaviours and role modelling exceptional service standards. It is the responsibility of the Sales Manager to empower their Department Manager team to be confident in managing their team and delivering against objectives. Inspiring the Managers and wider teams to be curious in order to develop their knowledge and passion is a vital attribute. They will work collaboratively with the Buying and Merchandising teams on product management and influence the buying of product for their area of responsibility through their team of Department Managers, Service Managers where applicable and Brand Specialists. Sales Managers will create a service experience that exceeds customers expectations and have a flexible and broad approach to their role demonstrating sound commercial acumen and an in depth understanding of their business. You will work with brands such as Kenzo, Acne, Marc by Marc and Tiger of Sweden, as well as premium casual brands and our Men's shoe galleries.

Key Responsibilities

CUSTOMER

· Generate ideas and implement plans to develop business opportunities and drive productivity, sales and profit across own bought and concession businesses

· Drive all sales opportunities, constantly seeking to improve productivity, managing all costs within budget, maximising stock availability and improving merchandising standards and addressing poor performance with managers when needed

· Role model and deliver an appropriate and exceptional personalised service to all customers through own bought and concession teams relevant to area

· Use and act upon information and feedback from across the business

· Set and continuously monitor customer service standards, motivating the team to exceed these standards, taking proactive action to address any issues

· Demonstrating a commercial mind set and outlook to stay responsive to customer needs, sharing inspiration and developing a commercial mind-set in immediate & wider team

· Creating and taking ownership of a clear plan, to deliver results on time - accountable for delivering results, giving full consideration to both short and medium term opportunities

PEOPLE

· Managing and leading our people through Performance Management and other available tools and processes

· Demonstrate an ability to lead, inspire, motivate and coach a highly skilled expert management team while driving company initiatives to achieve business goals

· Develop good performers through stretching personal development plans, identifying proactive plans to manage under performers

· Work collaboratively with concession partners to drive and challenge a positive change in behaviours and standards

· Plan team resourcing needs proactively and work with stakeholders across the business to meet your people goals by retaining top talent and recruiting new talent for the future

· Build professional lasting relationships at all levels, developing a working as one environment across the department, with Concession partners and within peer group

· Prioritise managers and peers but will also step back and consider business needs before needs of own area

· Motivate and develop DMs to sustain high performing teams, taking action when appropriate

· Actively look to the future and develop the team for succession across the business

· Communicate with confidence that positively impacts at all levels delivering clear and consistent messages that are in line with overall business communication

PRODUCT

· Ensuring a thorough brand and product knowledge

· Demonstrating an authentic and passionate understanding of brand, product and the competition

· Ensuring consistently well managed stocks and displays

· Inform and influence B&M using the DM stock review information in line with trends and requests

· Role model and show the team passion for the brand and product and use this to set expectations for the team

· Drive product/ brand training agenda with B&M

· Plan floor moves and commercial changes with the DM in order to drive performance

ENVIRONMENT

· Offer and show respect in the environment within the store

· Follow health and safety procedures and security procedures

· Ensuring the full trading window is efficiently managed

· Managing rotas to ensure departments are staffed to required levels

· Delivering visual standards which are high

· Ensuring Sales floors are legal and compliant

· Create and maintain a high performing extraordinary environment appropriate for the area of business

· Maintain excellent sales floor and back of house standards
