Design engineer for innovative internal combustion engine design. With a minimum 4yrs commercial experience including hands on experience of CAD design on internal combustion engines the mechanical design engineer will be working on powertrain and associated component parts (e.g. drivetrain, transmission, braking, suspension etc).

Preferably with experience from one of the main automotive car manufacturers or F1 teams the design engineer will have a mainstream CAD package. Company uses NX - so this is preferable. However, if the Design Engineer has in depth internal combustion engine experience this will suffice.

As expected, working with NX solutions, the Siemens NX design engineer will assist in delivering the highest integration between development disciplines in an open, collaborative environment.

Successful applicants must have the following skills and experience:

  • Strong CAD Design skills
  • 2D drawing, 3D modelling and detailing
  • GD&T
  • Engine design (diesel, marine engines, powertrain, gearbox etc.) experience
  • Concept design and detailed delivery of engine systems
  • Design for manufacture
  • Drafting and documentation

Ideally candidates will also possess some or all of the following:

  • BEng, MEng, HND/HNC in mechanical design or similar relevant engineering discipline
  • Background in full lifecycle design
  • Use of visual analytics and validation

This is a fantastic opportunity for a competent Design Engineer to join a busy engineering firm building a novel and unique combustion engine.

This is a long term contract with the project a minimum of 2yrs but predicted to be longer.

Key words: NX, CAD, Stress, strain, fatigue, creep, fretting, galling, Bolted joints, Fluid bearings, oil/hydraulic systems, GD&T, DFMA / DFx, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software such as Teamcentre or Windchill
