An exciting opportunity has arisen through our primary care transformation programme to increase the provision of Primary Mental Health Nurses based within GP practices throughout Forth Valley. Successful candidates will work directly with GPs, Practice Managers and the wider practice team to provide accessible primary care for people with mild to moderate presentations of mental ill health. The post holder will be a registered Mental Health Nurse with the drive and enthusiasm to provide holistic mental health assessments and evidence based interventions within a primary care setting.

Primary Mental Health Nurses have strong links with secondary care and community based services, referring and interfacing when necessary. Skilled in Mental Health Nursing with a passion for person centred care, the Primary Mental Health Nurse will play a vital role in the provision of day to day primary care. This rewarding role requires resilient professionals with enthusiasm and the drive to innovate and develop. Non-medical prescribing would be advantageous for this role but should not deter candidates with the other requisite skills.

Professional leadership will be provided through the Integrated Mental Health Team Managers under the supervision of the Head of Mental Health Nursing.

The successful candidates will work under the direction of the GPs and practice managers to provide specific high quality and comprehensive, often first point of contact, psychiatric nursing assessments and interventions to those with a mild to moderate mental health problem, with the ability to refer on to appropriate services if required. NMP qualification would be advantageous.

This is a rare opportunity to truly influence and improve the primary care experience for people seeking mental health support within Falkirk, Clackmannanshire and Stirling Health and Social Care Partnerships. As a valued member of our integrated services you will be actively involved in developing and promoting the integration agenda.

Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post. This post is subject to rotation.

For informal enquiries please contact; - Julia Ferrari, Integrated Mental Health Team Manager, Woodlands Resource Centre, Falkirk Community Hospital onThe duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
