Maintenance Technician (Night Shift / Electrical bias)

Position: Night Shift Technician (Electrical bias)
Location: Hitchin with occasional travel to other local sites’
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: Night shift 10pm – 6.15pm Sunday to Thursday – also required to work every other Friday 10pm – 6.15am
Salary: £Competitive

About the role:

Primary respondent for plant and machinery breakdowns across all UK sites. Complete planned preventative maintenance and support and assist with installations and projects.


- Maintain and repair plant & machinery as required
- Problem solve in a logical and rational way
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance tasks as directed
- Enter details of completed work on CMMS system as required
- Order spares and parts as necessary
- Assist other Engineers and Contractors with installations & repairs
- Complete work on all areas of the companies site, plant & equipment as required, that are within your skills, training & abilities whilst working safely at all times
- Provide weekend cover as per rota
- Willing to learn, train and develop according to the needs of the business
- Capable of working at heights and in confined spaces (training given)
- Be proactive in ensuring all necessary documentation is completed correctly and where applicable, handed in on time
- Adhere to the company’s Hygiene, Environment, Health and Safety policies, systems and safe working practices

About you:

- Significant experience of working in a similar maintenance position
- Able to work at heights and be capable of working in confined spaces
- Good electrical installation, panel wiring & machine fault finding skills
- Ability to fault find using PLC I / O
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic drawings
- HMI, PLC and control device programming is desirable
- Basic computer skills for inputting and printing data
- Demonstrable mechanical fitting abilities and the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
- Good pneumatic skills and the ability to read and interpret pneumatic schematics drawings
- Minimum City & Guilds 236 or equivalent / and a full Apprenticeship or an NVQ Level 3 Certification (Certificates to be made available)
- BTEC ONC or HNC (Electrical / Electronic) (Certificates to be made available) and City & Guilds 2382 16th or 17th Edition (Certificates to be made available) is desirable
- Experience of working within the food or Pharmaceutical industries is desirable
