The IT Development team are part of the NSML subsidiary. The teams create maintain and support software solutions across the NBS group directed by the corporate business strategy to solve the challenges it faces. These Core Business Applications operate on two platforms, IBM I and Windows servers.
Driving innovation through a culture of continuous improvement these Core Business Applications are used by NBS, Newcastle Strategic Solutions customers, and NSML direct customers.
IT Development build, configure, maintain and support integration interfaces between the core platforms and several Third Party applications and also deliver web content / branding for the online applications for NBS and NSSL Clients within the Web Services team.Role Summary

The purpose of this role is to develop and support software solutions Newcastle Systems Management Ltd, part of the Newcastle Building Society (NBS) Group. The role is responsible for developing high quality software. The post holder will be able to work independently and sometimes work as part of a wider project team and will be required to analyse business requirements, design and specify program changes, code the solutions and provide implementation and post implementation support as required within agreed timeframes within agreed procedures and standards. Post holders are expected to be self-motivated and encouraged to take ownership and be proactive in their own personal development plan.
The development teams create maintain and support software solutions for two platforms, IBM I and Windows servers. Core business applications focus on Customers, Savings and Loans. Internet facing applications are secure n-tier solutions based on ASP.Net Web Applications, WCF, SQL Server and DB2 which integrate with the IBM I platform.
For the IBM I developer roles candidates must have a good understanding and exposure to developing enterprise systems and 'Service Orientated Architecture’ concepts. RPG III, RPG IV and ILE. Experience in the development of secure online systems would be advantageousSkills and Experience
Successful candidates will progress within the role by undertaking analysis work (including system documentation), design work, technology evaluation and development work all within a team environment or independently with minimum supervision. Occasionally the role may be required to deputise for team leaders on projects.
A strong emphasis on build processes and release management is already in place so therefore exposure to the tools currently utilized and methodologies to achieve this will be beneficial. Microsoft Team Foundation Server and the build process is a mandatory requirement, exposure to Rational Team Concert and ITIL are also desirable.
The role will require you to have a strong team focus and good communication skills along with significant experience of the IBM I. We are looking for experienced developers at different levels.
