Piper Recruitment has a great opportunity for a CNC Machine Tool Service Engineer based around the Cambridge, Peterborough or Bury St Edmunds areas to join one of the most successful and forward-thinking machine tool Companies. The Purpose of the role of the CNC Machine Tool Service Engineer: To provide support on site to customers and keep their machines running in a timely and efficient manner. This will include commissioning, servicing, fault finding and repairs. The work will involve working at customer’s premises. Our client is a very well respected leader in the Machine Tool market and this role has arisen from growth within their business. Salary: £35000 depending on experience. Working up to 50 hours per week including travel time. £46.00 per night if you have to stay away from home. Key Duties required of the CNC Machine Tool Service Engineer: • Commissioning of machines. • Carrying out routine service work, overhauling and replacing parts according to service schedules. • Calibrate machines to keep them within the manufacture’s tolerances. • Fault finding and fixing faults, this may include ordering replacement parts. • Writing detailed reports (nature of fault, parts replaced, worked carried out, time travelling and on site etc). • Fitting ancillary equipment (DRO’s, power drawbars, etc) • Fitting ProtoTRAK systems on new or used machines • Keeping the service manager informed on progress • Responding immediately to requests to visit customers in the field • Any other duties that may be required within your capabilities • Attend training courses as and when required. Key Skills required of the CNC Machine Tool Service Engineer: • Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles including bearings, pulleys, motors, gears, lubrication etc. • Experience of Siemens Controls would be beneficial but is not essential. • Basic electrical knowledge to include measuring voltage, current and reading an electrical diagram.
