My client is seeking a Regional Data Protection Officer to spearhead the firms data protection and privacy strategy, for the EMEA region.


The purpose of the Regional Data Protection Officer, is to build and manage the privacy management program across the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa), to develop privacy policies for internal, and privacy statements for external use cases, and to describe privacy requirements for business partners and service providers.

The Regional Data Protection Officer (EMEA) would report directly into the CFO and dotted reporting line to the CIO and Legal Counsel.

Profile

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in privacy, data protection, security, risk management, auditing and/or compliance
  • Must have proven experience with Privacy and Data Protection (e.g. Data Protection Officer)
  • A deep working knowledge of state, federal and international privacy laws, regulations and industry best practices
  • Experience in ISO 27001, PCI DSS, auditing frameworks
  • Experience working in a heavily regulated and/or audited environment.
  • Detailed knowledge of the EU e-Privacy Directive and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • Experience or familiarity with governance, risk and compliance (GRC) methodologies and how they can be used to support privacy-related GRC activities.
  • Excellent communicator both verbal and written.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills - Has the accessibility and ability to interface with, and gain the respect of, stakeholders at all levels and roles in the company. This role will be directly reporting into the C-board.

Certifications/development:

  • one or more of: Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Management (CIPM), and/or Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT), and one or more of: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).

Desirable:

  • Experience implementing privacy policies in an international business, aligned to global standards.
  • Experience and familiarity with technological assistance tooling, such as data discovery, data mapping, authorization and access management, and pseudonymization technologies.
  • Knowledge of software development life cycles (SDLCs) is beneficial
  • Develop new and innovative strategies to address privacy and regulatory standards and requirements in new computing paradigms, such as cloud based and software as a service technologies.
