Infrastructure & Security Analyst - Permanent - Edinburgh
Harvey Nash are recruiting exclusively on behalf of an established and well-known Scottish Retail Brand, based on the outskirts of Edinburgh (Great transport links and easily commutable from Edinburgh, Fife, West Lothian, etc.). They're looking for someone to join the team as a Technology & Security Analyst who will help develop, maintain and support their client, network and infrastructure environment, ensuring effective secure operation and maintenance in-line with relevant policies.
The technology aspects of the role
Working as part of the Technology team you'll take on responsibility for all things IT, from providing maintenance and support for their PC's, Laptops, Devices, Virtual Servers, Physical Hosts, Backups, Restores and Disaster Recovery setup (Including testing). You'll troubleshoot and resolve IT Service Incidents with fix on fail support. You'll provide input for procurement and system planning / upgrades of the IT Environment and will ensure continuous improvement of proactive and reactive maintenance. You'll get involved with project work as required to improve the IT service operating model whether it be upgrading existing or adding new services.
The security aspects of the role
Working closely with the Technology and Security Architect you'll take on responsibility for Security Administration and Security Incident Management. This will cover all aspects of Security including an IT asset and configuration database, monitoring supplier/platform vulnerabilities, patching advisories, effective operation of antivirus/antimalware tools etc. You'll ensure user access is reviewed, corrected and improved across IT Environments and that Security policies and procedures are understood adhered to. You'll help develop a Cyber and IT Compliance roadmap to improve IT Security.
You, the successful candidate, will be a self-starter with an attitude of right first time and a commitment to continuous improvement. You'll have a high attention to detail and will be logical and analytical with strong skills in solving technical problems. You'll be an excellent communicator with an ability to explain technical aspects to a non-technical audience. You'll ideally be degree educated in a relevant subject (Computing, Networking, IT/Cyber Security, etc.). You'll have previous experience in an IT Operations role where you've had hands on experience working with Windows, Active Directory, SCCM, VMWare ESX, Automated Patching Technologies, SCM, etc. You may have already had experience in IT/Cyber Security, however it's not essential. What is essential however is a clear desire and a commitment to develop skills in the IT/Cyber Security area. It's expected that you'll grow your skill set over time with formal training and on the job development inline with IISP/CESG and SFIA SCAD.
