Congenica have an exciting opportunity for Senior Python Developers to join their growing team based in Hinxton, Cambridge. Senior Python Developers - Key Responsibilities: - Setting a good standard of development procedures for other developers to follow - Develop features and improvements for Sapientia - Fix bugs for Sapientia - Additional Responsibilities - Take part in requirements review - Write design documentation for change Senior Python Developers - Benefits: - 25 days of annual holiday, increasing by one day per year to a maximum of 30 days - Performance related incentive scheme - Pension through Royal London with 6% company match - Optional private healthcare coverage through AXA PPP, with the ability to add family members. The company pays the annual premium for the employee, but the employee is responsible for the full cost additional family members - Income protection benefits Life insurance at 4 times salary (lump sum payment) - Subsidised gym membership on site at the Sanger Institute - Free parking - Flexible working schedule (ability to work from home as needed) - Perkbox, online benefits and wellness platform Senior Python Developers - You: - Degree qualified - Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science (Desirable) - Portfolio demonstrating experience (e.g. public contribution to open source projects) (Desirable) - 6+ years development using Python - 2+ Year of experience working with frameworks such as Flask or Django - Extensive knowledge and experience of unit testing - Experience of working in an Agile software development team - Familiarity with UNIX/Linux and working in the terminal (Bash, etc.) - Strong relational database experience and knowledge (SQL, ideally Postgres) - Web application development experience (ideally full stack) - Strong knowledge of web technologies - Interest in next gen sequencing and genetics, Biology (Desirable) - Working within a quality system such as ISO 27001 (Desirable) - Familiarity with modern DevOps practices, continuous deployment with Docker, Jenkins, Mesos (Desirable) - Experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, ECS, RDS, S3) (Desirable) - Awareness of common software vulnerabilities and software security best practices (Desirable) - Experience of working on large, scalable single page front end applications - ideally with React.js or similar (Desirable) - Advanced version control with git (knowledge of branching models, git internals) (Desirable) - Experience with big data tools e.g. Hadoop (Desirable) - Reporting & documenting - Use of encryption - authentication and data security - Able to produce high quality software - Friendly, approachable and builds positive personal and organisational relationships - Good communicator - Self-motivated and results-driven, problem solver - Enthusiastic, hardworking, well organised and able to prioritise - Able to work with others, and willing to contribute to the team To submit your CV for this exciting Senior Python Developers opportunity, please click ‘Apply’ now
