The role of a Software Engineer will require the individual to undertake the following duties: • Control and instrumentation systems functional specification and design, PLC system software configuration • Understanding, interpreting and responding to the needs of other departments • Production of control and instrumentation design documentation including: Specifications, P&IDs, Control philosophies, Instrument schedules and Control system & communications block diagrams • Undertake site surveys of existing installations • Undertake Site based commissioning work and successfully commissioned a site • Liaison with clients both internal and external Candidates should be able to demonstrate design experience of the following: PLC Code: • Mitsubishi Q / FX Range of PLCs • Siemens Step 7 / TIA Portal experience • Allen Bradley • Rockwell (ControlLogix PLC, RS Logix) HMI Applications • Siemens • Mitsubishi / Beijer • Allen Bradley SCADA • Fix and derivations of Fix (iFIX) • Intouch • WinCC • Schneider Candidates will be computer literate and able to work effectively with Microsoft Office as a minimum. Design experience within the Water Industry sector would be an advantage, but essential. Applicants must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and be able to build and maintain strong business relationships with internal employees and external clients, and be able to work as part of a team. • Must be able to deliver projects on time and within budget • Work within our established Quality Management System, ISO9001:2001 TickIT • Good keyboard skills and IT literacy (ideally Word, Excel and Access) • Good organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail • Good forward planning skills • Good interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to work on own initiative without supervision. • Ability to cope under pressure • Must be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with a wide range of colleagues
