JOB SPECIFICATION SHIFT TEAM LEADER (Fabrication / Forming) MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE Overall responsibility for managing the Technical Support team to ensure that machines, equipment, labour and materials are in place to fulfil production schedules. To organise, plan and manage the workload of the teams ensuring that specifications, throughput, quality, cost and delivery targets are met using lean manufacturing techniques. Ensure that the team adhere to all H&S policies and procedures. Monitor attendance and ensure absence is managed effectively. To ensure that all employees are fully briefed in relation to Company information, job details, H&S, Company procedures and production schedules, etc, in accordance with the Shift Brief document. RESPONSIBILITIES 1 Ensuring that the team produce high quality products to customer specification, within budget and to delivery deadlines. Ensuring that faults and re-works are minimised. Ensuring that output targets are met whilst driving direct labour costs down. 2 Ensuring that the team comply and follow all Company policies and procedures. Ensure that the H&S policy and procedures are complied with to minimise incidents and accidents and that all accidents/near misses are reported. Ensures a clean and safe working environment for themselves and the team. Conduct daily shift briefs, including delivering H&S Toolbox talks monthly and attend the daily Production Meetings. 3 Ensuring the continuous improvement is achieved through thorough monitoring of product throughput and quality using Lean Manufacturing techniques. Also ensuring that the team have all materials, components and equipment to be able to work effectively and efficiently to meet schedule requirements. 4 Ensure all machines and equipment is running to maximum optimisation levels and responsible for overseeing the safe storage and regular maintenance for all equipment and machinery in their area. This will include the development and implementation of a planned, rolling plant and equipment maintenance programme for their area. 5 Where necessary, after seeking advice from HR, conduct first level disciplinary and grievance and investigation meetings, ensuring that company policies and procedures are adhered to and applied consistently and fairly in relation to, for example, timekeeping, attendance, poor performance and conduct. 6 Ensure that team members are fully trained in all aspects of their job in accordance with the Company's skills matrix, which must be regularly kept updated and participate in the induction of any new starters. 7 Ensure that all relevant documentation is completed accurately and to time, including the weekly reports for the Factory Supervisor, holiday bookings, agency timesheets, employee timesheets
