System Design Engineer - Defence Engineering System Design Engineer £40,000 - £50,000 (Dependant on Experience) Stevenage Permanent One of our most reputable defence clients is currently seeking a senior Systems Engineer to fill a highly technical position in their designs team for their Systems Design and Validation Function, who are primarily responsible for undertaking design and production of highly sophisticated aerospace and defence solutions in the U.K. and globally. The SD&V function are critical in providing a consistent systems engineering approach to all stages of product development, fully contributing from concept to in-service support. Successful applicants will be joining a team who have a proven track record in developing complex weapon systems to meet demanding customer needs, making use of new technologies and methodologies to improve product effectiveness and efficiency. Key responsibilities for the position will include: * Requirements Specification and Design - carrying out a full range of technical analyses and investigations, preparing specifications and developing designs * Conducting systems performance analyses and being fully included in Systems Architecture design * Analysing flow-down of system requirements to subsystem requirement specifications * Developing system-level test sequences * Liaising with European counterparts, where appropriate to project, to maintaining coherent system design * Supporting customer working groups as required Due to the high-performance expectations of our client, it is critical that applicants can demonstrate that they have experience of working in a Systems Engineering environment, and have a solid understanding of system engineering processes including SysML and experience in using DOORS. Although not essential, applicants would benefit from weapon systems knowledge and experience of weapons system studies including design trades, performance analysis and telemetry data. As success in the role actively depends on working within a pre-established team within the company, applicants will ideally be able to demonstrate a capability of working with others from various disciplines as well as simultaneously being a self starter and taking a proactive approach to their work.
