Senior R&D / Development Engineer Electromechanical £45,000 - £50,000 - Chester This is a great opportunity for someone who is an experienced R&D Engineer looking for the next step in their career. This is an innovative role covering all aspects of design, development and product test. You will oversee the design team and be a key member product development. To be successful in this role requires a highly technical and driven person, capable of overcoming hurdles, producing good quality reports and documentation, communicating project progress to the development managers, and building working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Key Responsibilities * Develop and manage specifications for new products * Develop design solutions to meet specifications in line with programme requirements * Manage the procurement of components and support/take part in the build of development units and test rigs * Develop test specifications and data analysis plans for components and subsystems * To generate detailed documentation, reports and drawings as required, including technical reports of a high standard * Lead design reviews and FMEAs providing advice and guidance on testing and validation issues. Give feedback and advice on current products and future development * Develop reliability data (MTBF) from component and system testing * To conduct and implement risk assessments of all development work and to ensure a safe environment is maintained at all times Essential * Educated to at least degree level in mechanical engineering or similar field * Minimum of 7 years Design experience with responsibility for Design/Analysis/Validation of complex parts in batch production environment. * Analysis & Validation to include performance of high stress steel parts subject to high cyclic operation and their assemblies * Experience of the design process particularly taking new concepts through validation to production * Experience of working with 3D CAD and spread sheet packages for engineering applications * Practical (hands on) experience in a mechanical engineering environment * Understanding of the principals of measurement and testing * Familiar with instrumentation, electronic and electrical measurement techniques * The ability to plan their own work load and those of others to ensure overall success of the development department If you are looking for a new challenge in a varied role, please don't hesitate to contact Sarah Farrugia on (Apply online only)
