Welfare Officer needed for an ongoing temporary contract in Bristol

You will be joining a well established housing association in Bristol, providing support and housing related services to a wide range of service users. Your new role
As a welfare officer you will be working on a full time ongoing temporary basis. You will provide a high quality and effective service to vulnerable people whose accommodation may be at risk. You will work with a caseload of tenants ensuring that their tenancy are sustained. As a welfare officer you will be promoting tenancy welfare, ensuring a they feel supported and engaged with the local community. You will develop links with specialist providers and signpost when necessary. As a welfare officer you will ensure the services provided meet the tenants needs and manage complaints effectively. Furthermore, as a welfare officer you will assist tenants appealing against adverse welfare benefit decisions, empowering service users to manage these cases independently. You will work to develop and maintain up to date area knowledge of the welfare reform and the benefit systems to make sure tenants are advised properly. You will also work closely with the tenancy management team ensuring tenancies are sustained and also with the tenancy involvement team, advising if a service user is in need of extra care through volunteering schemes.
What you'll need to succeed
To be a successful welfare officer you must have the ability to communicate well. You must have strong knowledge within housing management with an awareness of tenant involvement strategies as well as understand sheltered housing scheme. Awareness of using research in best practice to improve services is also required, as well as an understanding in housing law. You will be covering a large patch of properties so a car user is essential. Most importantly you must be passionate about the housing sector and be able to empathise and engage with vulnerable service users.
