Due to significant growth, we are currently seeking a Systems Accountant to assist with both supporting and maintaining the finance systems as well as day-to-day operational tasks to help deliver the team objectives.

The successful candidate will have input into the improvement of the finance systems and help see those improvements through to fruition, in terms of proposing, specifying, testing and supporting new initiatives and projects.

The role will also be involved in planning, blueprinting, testing and implementing major changes and updates to key systems used by the Group. Working within a global function you will be in contact with overseas offices on a regular basis. The post holder will be encouraged to take on additional responsibilities as experience and departmental requirements allow.

Main Duties

  • Understanding and aiding all aspects of the use of the finance systems - including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, fixed assets and general ledger accounting, CRM and BI reporting
  • Month-end accounting; including creation of monthly reports required by management, monitoring system behaviour and key posting processes and handling other global accounting transactions
  • Maintenance of finance systems including master data, query resolution, error reporting to an internal team of developers and in some cases an external support provider
  • Work on projects; help influence decisions on improvements and controls within the finance systems and upstream and downstream systems
  • Taking an active role in specifying, testing and supporting new initiatives such as the development of new processes and internal controls or system enhancements
  • Provide support to finance teams in all locations, including day to day query resolution and supporting the month end close process
  • Input ideas to, and help maintain, other systems (or aspects of them), such as finance intranet site
  • Assist regional financial controllers with internal controls and queries
  • Prepare required ad-hoc and regular reports on key activities
  • Assist with audit queries where needed

Experience and Skills


  • Qualified accountant
  • Detailed knowledge of SAP
  • Highly IT literate
  • Experience of a financial accounting and reporting environment
  • Excellent communication skills / inter-personal skills and influencing skills
  • Ability to work closely with IT and third party suppliers
  • Strong excel and data analysis skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple work streams and prioritise accordingly
  • Self-motivated and wishing to make a difference, with a track record of achievements
  • Able to build good working relationships within and outside of the department, including overseas colleagues


  • Mathematics to A-Level or equivalent
  • Experience of system implementations or major enhancements
  • Experience of a quoted company environment
  • Experience of working with senior management teams
