Job Description JOB TITLE: Apprentice – Support Worker RESPONSIBLE TO: Registered Manager and/or Team Leader RESPONSIBLE FOR: N/A DIRECTORATE: Operations SALARY RANGE: £3.50 - £6.00 This is a sliding scale throughout Qualification HOURS WORKED: TBC TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Permanent/or until completion of Qualification DISCLOSURE REQUIRED: Yes – DBS Enhanced Disclosure ROLE PURPOSE To work in a supported learning environment to develop the skills and knowledge which will assist the apprentice to complete their qualification and secure employment and progress in their career in the future. To provide support to Heathcotes Group Service Users in line with the Organisations aim to provide a high quality support service tailored to suit each individual’s person centred care plan and to promote independence and choice to maximise their potential. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: To undertake a development programme leading to a National Vocational Qualification as part of an apprenticeship. To actively participate in their own development plan which will be agreed with the manager and the assessor from the training provider. To take part in meetings, supervision, training as requested by the manager. To achieve personal appraisal targets, as agreed by the manager. To be committed to the Heathcotes Group core values and to demonstrate this commitment in the way duties are carried out. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in maintaining financial records in line with organisational policies and procedures. Carry out administrative tasks as required. Share in the completion of domestic tasks to assist in the overall running of the service. Share responsibility for shopping and preparing meals, and ensuring environmental hygiene is met through the completion of required cleaning tasks. These should not be done in isolation but should involve service users in line with their care plan. Make visitors feel welcome. Provide refreshments/assistance as and when required. Promote and ensure the good reputation of the service. Ensure that all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties. Notify the Home Manager, or the Person in Charge, as soon as possible of your inability to report for duty, and also on your return to work from all periods of absence. Ensure the security of the service is maintained at all times. Adhere to all organisational policies and procedures within the defined timescales. Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained. Once trained, administer medication in accordance with company policies and procedures, and ensure that medical emergencies are dealt with appropriately. Adhere to the medication policy at all times. Report immediately to the Home Manager, or Person in Charge, any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a service user, colleague, self or another. Understand, and ensure the implementation of, the service’s Health and Safety policy, and Emergency and Fire procedures. Report to the Home Manager, any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard. Promote safe working practice within the care centre.
