We currently have an opportunity for an Editor to join our Routledge Music list on a part time fixed-term maternity contract. Working alongside two Editors and an Editorial Assistant, this role involves the proactive commissioning of research monographs, as well as handbooks and supplementary texts across a range of musical subjects.
You’ll be highly organised, have a strong commercial awareness, enjoy working towards targets and have a background in the humanities with commissioning experience. Some travel within the UK and internationally will also be required.
What you’ll be doing:
• Commissioning new books both through existing contacts and by proactively generating new leads
• Managing contracted titles to schedule and to budget
• Liaising with internal and external colleagues to further the success of the list
• Representing Routledge at conferences and other events
What we’re looking for:
• Previous commissioning experience and proven success working towards challenging targets
• Strong commercial awareness
• Highly organised
• A collaborative style of working with others
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement
This position is based in our UK (Milton Park) office for 21 hours per week (working pattern/days to be agreed).
