Employment Lawyer - Northampton

I am looking to speak to employment lawyers based within commuting distance of Northampton with regards to a role that has come up within an award winning, legal 500 and chambers listed law firm.

The successful candidate will be joining an employment department dealing with both contentious and non contentious matters on behalf of mainly employer clients. Work undertaken on the non contentious side may include things such as drafting employment contracts and policies, staff handbooks, HR matters such as performance management, disciplinary processes, grievance procedures. On the contentious side of things they deal with running employment litigation/tribunal matters and advising on settlement agreements. It is therefore necessary for someone to show experience of dealing with work such as this on behalf of employer clients.

You will be working closely with the head of employment who is a keen business developer and has been able to build up the department and you will have the opportunity to get involved in the business development activities of the firm whilst developing your skills in this specialist area further under their guidance.

The firm will offer an excellent benefits package including a good salary (which will be dependent on experience), generous pension scheme, private healthcare, on site parking available and much more including excellent progression prospects. The firm has a successful track record of being able to offer a structured career part and look to promote from within allowing all their lawyers the opportunity to climb up the ladder to senior positions over time if they wish to do so.

This role may be particularly well suited to junior employment lawyers, perhaps currently working as a paralegal or junior legal executive with experience of dealing with employment law that are looking to progress their career working closely alongside an experienced head of department as part of a current small and tight knit team. You would have lots of involvement in good quality and interesting work as you will be a crucial part of the team right from day 1.
