Job Purpose/Overview

The purpose of this role is to ensure that a complex in-house system that is central to our future vision for our global research and efficient pet centres is tested and quality assured to a high standard.
The role will also help to drive forward systems development activities to ensure we get high quality results within our targeted time frames.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide quality assurance (specification, testing, issue management, continuous improvement activities) for a complex in-house R&D system used in Client's global pet centres.
2. Design and specification of some functional improvements with the support of the system owner. Work with customers and offshore development team in France & India to define and implement changes.
3. Track and support the development and quality assurance activities to provide status updates within the team.
4. Manage the transition of features into production and ensure all relevant documentation is created and maintained, and the correct processes followed.
5. Work with system's customers and stakeholders to ensure service quality is maintained and that deliverables exceed their expectations.

Context and Scope

Position holder will need to understand and become skilled in the system and how it relates to our research and business processes.
They will interpret system specification documentation in order to define and carry out test plans. And issues or problems will be assigned as CIP or issues and will then be tracked and managed to ensure they are fully resolved by the system developers who are based in France and India.
They will track and manage workload to report on status and progress and will manage the transition of the tested system into production.
Should they prove proficient at the QA activities there is the possibility of system design opportunities to help shape the future functionality and direction of the system.

Job Specifications/Qualifications

1. Education & Professional Qualification
Educated to degree level in a technical subject.

2. Knowledge/Experience
Experience of software development environments and of software quality assurance processes.
Ideally experience of working in a distributed team, as developers and customers are in some cases situated in different countries.
Experience of working in a results-driven commercial environment.
