LOCATION: Bury St Edmunds

Opportunity

Our client, a highly reputable and well established accountants based in Bury St Edmunds is seeking a Payroll Assistant/Bookkeeper to join their busy Business Support Services Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to utilise their significant experience in running payrolls to help deliver a service that is second to none. Some of the bookkeeping duties may be carried out at client’s premises so a full clean driver’s licence is essential for this position.

What your work environment will be like

Excellent location with parking, in newly refurbed offices.

What you’ll be doing

Running multiple payrolls both weekly and monthly

Working knowledge of SSP, SMP, SPP and NI calculations

Payroll administration and knowledge of payroll processing

BACS processing

Up to date knowledge of payroll legislation, including HRMC regulations

Producing accounts to trial balance

Bookkeeping and preparing VAT returns for clients

Working in an accurate, diligent and methodical manner with excellent attention to detail

Working within an effective team to complete project components and assignment tasks

Communication to internal and external stakeholders via telephone, letter and email

Provide clerical and administrative support to management as requested

What we’re looking for

Full clean driving licence is essential

A candidate who is part qualified AAT or qualified is desirable

Educated to GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English

ICT literate in Microsoft

Experience in SAGE 50

Excellent communication skills and a keen eye for detail

Previous Bookkeeping and knowledge of payroll processing essential
