Newly Qualified Teacher NQT: Primary
As part of our recruitment drive to appoint Newly Qualified Teachers for September 2018, we are looking to engage with committed and inspirational trainees seeking their first post as a qualified teacher, as part of an innovative and highly supportive academy team. We want to hear from trainee teachers who are interested to join one of our high performing and thriving departments, with vacancies available across EYFS, KS1 & KS2.
The Harris Federation is a successful, highly collaborative and enterprising group of academies in and around London. Our network of academies is setting standards of excellence through an experienced and supportive approach with the aim that every child in London can have the best possible education, enabling them to fulfil their potential and decide their own future. The focus of the Harris Federation is on transforming some of the most challenging schools in London into exceptional places of learning. That means that when you work at a Harris academy, you are playing a part in something very important – giving children the freedom and the opportunities to choose their own futures.
We have academies across London. If you have a preferred location of work, please let us know when you make your application.
As an NQT, you will follow our highly successful Harris NQT programme, training alongside other NQTs from across the Federation. This enables aspiring teachers to support and learn from each other, in the true collaborative spirit of Harris.
Our NQT induction programme, delivered through our outstanding Harris Federation Teaching School Alliance, aims to welcome new teachers and build their self-confidence in the first few weeks of their career. There is regular contact with other NQTs within and across subject areas, and a structure of support and challenge with customised professional learning sessions throughout the year.
Every NQT has a professional mentor who works with you to make sure your training and support needs are met. You will have the opportunity to observe lessons being delivered by experienced teachers. There are also a wide range of additional programmes open to NQTs through the Teaching School Alliance to help you achieve your career ambitions more quickly.
Why work for the Harris Federation?
Harris is a Federation and not a chain; each Harris academy is different, reflecting the particular aspirations and leadership style of its Principal. 68% of all of our academies inspected so far have been graded as Outstanding (compared to 20% nationally) with the rest judged as Good. In Primary education, our academies have been judged to be the top performing group of schools compared to all other local authorities and academy trusts in England, in both 2015 and 2016 by the highly respected Education Policy Institute.
We look for talented individuals who want to be a part of transforming education in London, and who can help create exceptional places of learning.
If you would like a discussion about the role or to arrange to visit any Harris primary academy, please call the careers team on or email .
Harris academies are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All offers of employment are subject to an Enhanced DBS check, and where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants. In line with our commitments to safeguarding, the Harris Federation uses preferred agencies and is unable to work with any agencies where Terms of Business have not been agreed by both parties prior to an engagement.
