The Animal Health Trust is a leading charity dedicated to the improvement of animal health and welfare through veterinary research, together with high quality clinical services and a commitment to education. The Trust comprises the Centre for Small Animal Studies, Centre for Equine Studies and Centre for Preventive Medicine.

We are currently seeking a self-motivated, experienced Clinical Chemistry Technician to join the Clinical Pathology area within our Diagnostic Laboratory Services (DLS) offering high quality diagnostic testing to the veterinary industry including the AHT secondary referral clinics.

You will have a relevant BSc or HNC in Medical Laboratory Sciences specialising in clinical pathology with significant experience (5-10 years) in a human or veterinary laboratory.

The Clinical Pathology Laboratory receives samples from companion dogs, cats and horses for clinical chemistry, haematology, coagulation and urinalysis testing.

As Team Leader you will have line management responsibility for a small team of technicians whilst taking responsibility for the day-to-day testing activities and reporting of results to veterinary clients in an efficient manner in order to contribute to optimal patient care.

Your primary analytical role will be clinical chemistry analysis whilst overseeing and assisting with haematology analysis and preparation of specimens for cytological evaluation. You will be required to troubleshoot issues with equipment, methods and internal and external quality control results (in conjunction with our clinical pathologists).

Experience of working within a quality management system framework with accreditation to either ISO 17025 or ISO 15189 would be desirable.

We offer an employer contribution pension scheme, employee assistance programme, death in service, free parking, staff discounts and basic 25 days holiday per annum, plus bank holidays.
