Are you an available Highway Design Engineer seeking their next contract?

My client has an immediate opportunity for a qualified Highway Design Engineer to join the Highway Design and Construction team for an initial 3 month period. This period may increase subject to workload and budget.


The successful candidate will have current knowledge and experience of the design element of a highway scheme. This will include vertical and horizontal alignment, detailing and specification as well as highway / traffic engineering to include minor highway safety improvement schemes on existing roads.

The majority of works will be associated with feasibility, detailed design and development of highway safety improvement works for footway / cycleway, traffic signal, pedestrian crossing, roundabout, road widening and traffic calming schemes.


In-depth knowledge and experience in the design of highway maintenance or improvement schemes that meet UK standards. This includes Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, CDM and Active Travel design guidance.

Relevant experience in highway / traffic engineering feasibility and detailed design across a number of projects, with full responsibility for the design, including the use of AutoCAD and Civils 3D is essential.

Ability to manage own workload effectively and communicate confidently with clients, contractors and third parties essential. Experience in the supervision of highway construction and maintenance projects would be advantageous.
