£35000 - £38000 plus benefits

The Company

My client is a successful global company that provides a variety of on-site Laboratory Services to major pharmaceutical companies. They have an exciting new Lab Manager at a respected bio-pharmaceutical customer ideal for a communicative scientific leader looking to take on services and operational responsibility for a well-equipped lab.

The Job

This position is a challenging, multi-faceted role where you will have overall management coordination and responsibility for the day to day operational management of a well equipped lab.

With prior line management experience you will have 5 direct reports, and support 17 people overall. This is a diverse mix of technicians, storespeople and scientists.

Using your organisational skills, you will liaise with multiple people to ensure the lab is running smoothly. Using lean methodologies, 5s etc. you will champion improvements to processes, improving efficiency, reducing time and cost, enabling the scientists to have more time and resources to carry out their core duties.

Some activities include:

- Line management
- Assisting in development of SOP's particularly focused on reagents/consumables and cost saving recommendations
- Operational management of the team, delivering on SLA's
- Providing operational support on projects to build understanding of business needs and identify opportunities for process improvements
- Facilitating visits of temporary lab users understanding their specific requirements

There will also be other activities related to equipment, facilities and health and safety.

About You

To apply for this role you should demonstrate:

- A degree in a scientific discipline
- Previous line management experience is preferred, as is experience of supporting lab operations for example, setting up a new lab, restructuring a lab, implementing process improvements using Lean sigma, CI etc.
