An experienced Software Engineerwith proven software engineering/development skills is required to join the technical team based in our Farnborough offices. The successful candidate must be capable of attaining the necessary security credentials (ie. SC/DV).

The Role:

Responsibilities will include working with engineering, capture and programme management, partners, subcontractors and internal product development teams to assess candidate software system solutions, conduct should-cost assessments, resolve technical issues, optimise development processes and provide robust and effective software.

Role Requirements:

In order to be successful in this role, you will be a skilledSoftware Engineerwith over 5years of commercial experience within an agile environment.

The following skills are essential:

- Full lifecycle software engineering/development experience (requirements, design, implementation, testing and maintenance)
- Experienced in Java and SQL
- Experience developing applications with the following: JBOSS, Apache Tomcat, OSGi, JSON, PostgreSQL and Vaadin
- Experience in configuration control of software and documentation
- Technical familiarity with the Microsoft Windows environment
- Proven ability to rapidly learn and adapt
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to interact with internal and external customers on a technical level
- Interested in current and emerging technologies
- Willing and able to learn new languages/technologies according to project demands

The following skills and experience would also be an advantage:

- Experience of agile software development methods
- Experience of unit testing
- Familiarity with web development / SOA / configuration
- Scripting knowledge (esp. Bourne shell, Perl, Python)
- Familiarity with networking and communications protocols (esp. TCP/IP)
- Familiarity with Virtualization and cloud computing
- Familiarity with Subversion
- Experience working in a Unix/Linux environment
