This is a great opportunity for a Syndicate Accountant / Systems Accountant to join our very efficient and dynamic team with a long line of sight over the functions of a Syndicate Finance team.We are a team of thirteen staff based in both our Colchester and London offices and we are responsible for the external reporting including IFRS, UK GAAP, Solvency II and tax of our three Managed Syndicates (33, 3624 and 6104), Managing agent and corporate member. No pressure!
In addition to normal 'business as usual', we will also be undergoing a fair amount of change to our processes and reporting within the team due to Hiscox undertaking a large scale Finance Transformation Programme. This is an exciting time for not only our team but for Hiscox overall, and it's an opportunity you do not want to miss.
Reporting to the Syndicate Finance Manager, you will assist in producing the Syndicate reporting requirements for out three managed Syndicates. We hope you like coordinating information from a number of sources, because this will be one of your main tasks. You will coordinate inputs from Actuarial, Management Information and Finance to produce external regulatory submissions with a particular focus on Solvency II, Pillar III. The role will provide you with strong opportunities to work across the Syndicate Finance team and broaden your knowledge of a Syndicate Finance function.
What you'll be doing in the role
Assist with the production and completion of Lloyds Syndicate returns, primarily relating to Solvency II.
Assist with the production of the Solvency II Technical Provisions and maintenance of the calculation models.
Become an expert in analysing the reporting outputs and communicating these results to the business and management teams.
Produce and maintain key controls and data governance documentation.
Use system and process knowledge to streamline existing processes to meet tightening reporting deadlines.
Our must haves
- Strong IT and system skills, with an interest in developing IT / Finance systems and model building.
- Ideally Cognos Analyst experience
- If no Cognos Analyst experience then Lloyd's / Syndicate finance function experience.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure.
- Innovative and open minded in approaching issues and determining solutions.
- Confident communicator who builds good relationships across the business.
Nice to have
Cognos Analyst experience.
Syndicate Solvency II reporting experience.
Proven track record of innovation and process development.
