We are looking for a Visual designer (UX) to come on board to contribute within a team of UX designers, product designers and researchers and as part of a larger product team including product owners, business analysis and developers.

You will take difficult and complex problems with high business impact and solves them who actively mentors and inspires UX Designers throughout the organisation. You are a key driver, able to see the big picture and make the right calls for the customer.

Job Description

One of the key aspects of your role is creating a consistent visual design language, component library and collaborate with UX and UXR to ensure accessibility and usability in a Lightweight (lean) process. You must have a thorough understanding of visual communication, typography, accessibility and achieving a balance between business, design and our customers across device. Your ability to clarify a flexible UI framework regarding why you have been chosen will not only be welcomed but celebrated.

Responsibilities

As our Principal Visual designer you are leading and doing. Your responsibilities will include areas of design such as enterprise (brand awareness/application), typography, iconography, colour, space and texture. You will use your knowledge, verbal and visual communication, expertise and skills in all these fields to help our users and stakeholders understand and explore our products.

You will need to be able to work with product teams who are working both lean and agile and as a result will need to illustrate early customer validation, collaborative design, solving user problems, measuring KPI’s, applying appropriate tools and light weight design to move the product forward.

Key skills

  • Create and organise production assets (e.g. logos, icons, infographics etc.)

  • Source images (stock photos and video footage)

  • Closely collaborate with IT and business teams to solve complex issues, like interaction models, accessibility and data visualisation

  • Have basic CSS and HTML coding knowledge to work hand-in-hand with coders

  • Ability to make a shared component library for demo and efficient updates

  • Design user-centred interaction models, wireframes or screen mockups

  • Effectively managing timelines and expectations

Candidates must have an online portfolio and will be required to demonstrate their ability to uphold to Reed’s high standards for experience design by presenting relevant accomplishments from their portfolio during the interview process.
