Automation Engineer

£35,000 - £60,000 depending on experience

Portsmouth, Hampshire

Automation Engineer for manufacturing engineering company offering the successful engineer exciting work on complex specialist machinery. With the opportunity to influence and direct how future machinery will be designed and developed.

The role would suit a bright graduate from an Engineering / Manufacturing background. The role requires some theoretical element & work with complex and challenging calculations / modelling. As such, strong maths / physics is very key to this position.

Requirement is for an ambitious and bright Automation Engineer to assist in the set up and development of industrial systems for high value, low volume factory manufacturing. You will gain exposure to Factory Automation / Industrial Control / PLC and Software.

Min 3yrs commercial experience the Automation Engineer will be covering and exposed to much of the following:

  • Support in Machinery Design and Development
  • NPI
  • Industrial Control Systems
  • Motor drives
  • Electronics Hardware
  • Gearboxes
  • Robotics
  • Optical sensors
  • Tension controls
  • Manufacturing lines
  • Production equipment

If you are a competent design / development engineer within the machinery / automation field and love being both hands-on and theoretical this job would suit. In addition, working out complex engineering solutions to problems offers the chance to work in an extremely varied environment!

Current company working environment would favour exposure to a wide variety of engineering and technology, which may include the following:-

AutoCAD, Solidworks, motors, rotating machinery, gearboxes, motor drives, optical sensors, tensioning systems, motion control, HMI, PLC, Siemens S7 PLC, Profibus, CANBus, S7, dSpace, Fanuc, Allen Bradley, Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Texas, Matlab, Simulink, control loops, PID Control, CAD, C, Assembly, C++, Fortran, robots and robotic systems, electronics, mechanical design, FMEA, materials, plastics and composites, metals and alloys

Role is paying well depending on experience but package includes:
