Python, PHP, HTML and JavaScript, with recent Python. Our worldwide client provides anti-piracy protection for major record companies around the world, and is the go-to organisation within the music industry regarding the protection of copyrighted material and assets, both physical and online. On-line anti-piracy protection worldwide is a huge part of what the organisation does and with this in mind they utilise specialist technology and techniques to identify infringing websites, etc. including Big Data analysis (NB. Big Data experience is NOT required to be considered for this role).

Python provides the backbone of some key anti-piracy tools, including sophisticated web crawlers and our client now seeks an additional team member specifically with strong recent commercial Python scripting experience. It is quite likely that the successful candidate will have 3-5 years post-education experience, but our client is flexible about the amount of Python experience the candidate may have, as long as it is recent and sufficient to work on fairly complex Python scripting tasks.

As this recruit is within the Anti-Piracy team a basic knowledge of web-based crawling technologies and Cloud-based infrastructure would be ideal (of course, someone with more music sector experience would be very welcome too, or at least someone with an interest in music or working within the music industry). Reporting to the Head of Anti-Piracy Operations and based at our London headquarters, the successful candidate will have a good knowledge and understanding of programming languages such as Python, PHP, HTML and JavaScript, with recent Python scripting experience. In addition, ideally, the candidate should have experience of crawling websites for information and legal considerations, with respect to web crawling, around the use of such technologies to do this.

Responsibilities will include scripting new crawlers (Python, etc.) and maintaining existing crawlers, as well as assisting with the growth and maintenance of the cloud infrastructure used to support such crawlers. You will be involved with online content protection, advanced web crawler design and development and managing relationships with major record labels, member organisations and colleagues in international locations. You will also work with colleagues within the IT department when needed (these colleagues dealing with Big Data and other related systems and technology).

The role requires a highly focused and organised individual who will remain calm under pressure. The applicant must be a must be an excellent communicator who is self-driven, ambitious and happy to work as part of a team.

Knowledge of Anti-Piracy, music or the creative industries will be a big advantage
