Associate Director - Civil Engineering
My client is a leading provider of civil engineering services and advice into the public and private sectors, working on a wide range of high profile projects. They are a highly motivated and commercially focused team and are expanding to meet their growing workload.
They are looking for an ambitious and experienced individual to lead the civil engineering design team in the Nottingham office, with particular responsibility for the delivery of flood risk assessments and the design of drainage, highway and earthworks schemes. You will be an important member of the management team in our Nottingham engineering group and will have the opportunity to become involved in a wide variety of exciting projects across the UK.
You will be expected to report directly to and to assist and support the Director in charge of the Engineering department in Nottingham. We are looking for an ambitious and experienced Chartered Engineer capable of managing projects through delivery to financial close, managing the financial aspects of projects, leading and mentoring teams of engineers
and technicians and assisting with growing the engineering team in the Nottingham office. Experience in business development with good client contacts in the Midlands region would be an advantage.
You will have responsibility for the technical and commercial management of your own projects, including the management of other disciplines, as well as acting as part of a team working on elements of major UK commissions that have been procured. Part of this role will be contributing to the development of BIM in your day to
day duties. Due to the nature of a proportion of our work in the defence and government sectors, you will be required to hold, or achieve, a level of security clearance which the company will facilitate.
You will be a proven business leader and Chartered Engineer with a Degree or equivalent in civil engineering or project management, with relevant industry experience at a senior level. You will have demonstrated experience and an understanding of design. Your technical knowledge should include the use of technical design software. A key aspect of the role will be to lead and mentor engineers within the team to promote technical excellence and to play a leading role in their development.
You will be experienced in successfully running substantial multidisciplinary engineering design projects from inception to completion, with the ability to write fee and project bids and perform effectively at interview. You will have recognised management experience, the ability to manage other professionals and assistants and to collaborate and influence other
design team members and clients in the design process. An understanding of financial management and a detailed understanding/knowledge of the civil engineering market is also required.
