What will the role involve?

You will spend time attending water treatment works and water treatment assets in the York area ensuring compliance with water quality standards, environmental regulations and ensuring health and safety is achieved and managed. You will implement the optimal plan to ensure the regional supply/demand for water production and manage cost reduction, as part of this.

You will assist with optimisation activities and share best practice, alongside ensuring that outage is minimised at all times. You will manage asset failure recovery from the field when required and if any incidents or operational events happen, that they are escalated and managed appropriately. You will also ensure that compliance with statutory requirements such as Health and Safety, Water Quality Requirements (DWI) and the Environment Agency are followed at all times.

You will lead site maintenance activities to achieve effective asset control and performance and ensure remote asset interventions (via your mobile IT equipment) are delivered from the field and appropriate resources are requested.

Weekend working and operational standby is a requirement of this role once you are fully trained.

What skills are we looking for?

It is essential that you can develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will have a solid understanding of Water Treatment production processes, be analytical and have the ability to fault find on water treatment processes. You will have previous experience of incident management and asset failure recovery. You will also have rigorous attention to detail to ensure 'right first time performance'.

You will be proficient in the use of IT systems and have knowledge of risk policies and processes.

It would be advantageous if you have previous experience in a commercial orientated and/or regulated environment and previous experience gained within the water or waste water sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors.

As this role involves travel across the operational area, a full valid EU driving licence is essential.
