Business Analyst – Role overview
My client are looking for a traditional business-focussed Business Analyst to support the delivery of portfolio change (large and small projects).
The Business Analyst will engage with the business team, understand the business outcomes that the organisation is looking to deliver and translate these outcomes into functional and non-functional requirements that can be delivered by the technical teams.
The Business Analyst will also support development and test activities and work closely with business users during User Acceptance Testing to ensure a quality product is implemented.
Business Analyst – Key requirements
Understand business outcomes and shaping them with the business and with the product technology team so that functional and non-functional requirements can be defined.
Challenge the business to properly and appropriately define the changes necessary to deliver the business outcomes that are being sought
Develop and improve business, development and testing processes within the company to ensure clarity of definition.
Collect and write formal specifications and communicate functional requirements between product technology and business functions to design and implement business solutions.
Responsible for providing plans and estimates of own work to the Portfolio Manager.
Use a structured requirements process to assess near-term needs.
Identify business priorities and advise business stakeholders on options on behalf of the product technology team.
Excellent technical ability, including a deep understanding of software development, testing and requirements analysis.
Good understanding of project management tools and techniques
A core competency in software testing and business analysis supported by formal training.
Experience working on a large scale project/programme implementing software and process solutions.
Processing mapping/modelling experience of at least one standard, e.g. BPMN.
Experience of 1 or more software delivery methodologies, ideally Agile.
Excellent communication / interpersonal / stakeholder management skills.
Excellent presentation skills.
Experience of facilitating workshops
