FTTH Installation Engineers (MDU)
The Role: FTTH Installation Engineers (MDU's)
Location: North London / West End
Rate: £140 per day LTD company plus van & petrol card
We are looking for a number of experienced fibre installation engineers to join a FTTH (Fibre to the Home) project to provide ultra fast internet into MDU's (Multiple dwelling units) around North, Central and North West London.
This work will be on a LTD or Umbrella company day rate basis and it is Monday to Friday for a normal 8 hour working day. Company will provide specialist tools, hi-vis and hard hat along with a van and petrol card per two man crew. Contract duration is on a rolling 3 month basis and is expected to go into Autumn 2018.
You'll need to provide hand tools and safety boots, and have a driving licence with less than 6 points, plus no prior disqualifications due to insurance purposes.
You'll be an experienced field engineer that has ideally installed a cable service into MDU's. Installation engineers from a strong electrical installation / cabling background could also be considered but MDU experience is essential.
Fibre installation knowledge would be ideal, but HFC background will be OK.
Working in conjunction with the local councils, the work is all in MDU's and you'll be part of a team working on projects ranging from 200 to 2,000 apartments / dwellings on a single site within Greater London (Mainly North / North West / West End and West London - nothing South of the river at the moment). Work will vary but does not involve going inside the actual customer premise, and you'll install the fibre cable and then leave a 5m roll by the front door ready for the customer to self install.
You'll be skilled at pulling cable, have excellent power tools experience and have a significant amount of containment experience. Termination background is not needed and a splicing background is not needed.
You'll need to be OK with working at heights or via cherry pickers and while a NRSWA ticket would be useful, it is not essential for these roles.
The jobs are not multiple appointment per day positions and you'll be on a single site for a number of days, or possibly weeks as part of a team of engineers depending on the number of dwellings. Quality is of key concern and this is not a rush through the install as quickly as possible project, which is why we are paying a day rate.
Interviews will take place W/C 15th January and start date for this phase of the project is Monday 29th January in Soho. You'll need to work through either an umbrella company or LTD company basis.
