This is an exceptional opportunity to make a significant impact on systems and product quality at Amcor in Workington, Cumbria which operates 24/7, employs c320 people and delivers an extensive range of food packaging films, across 3 strategic business units, for a blue chip customer base. The site is already accredited to ISO9001, ISO14001, (transitioning to 2015 version), OHSAS18001, AIB and BRC ( IOP) Global Standards.

Reporting to the Technical, Quality and CI Manager, as Food Safety & Compliance Officer, your challenge will be to take ownership, drive and further develop Food Hygiene and Compliance Regulatory Systems and HACCP processes to ensure consistency, sustainability and standardisation to meet, and exceed, customer demands, whilst raising the profile of quality and food safety across the business.

Your remit will include:

  • Assisting the Technical, Quality and CI Manager in the transition and upgrade of quality, environmental and health & safety standards across the business.
  • Effective management and auditing of the Food Safety Programme, as part of the integrated QMS system.
  • As the site expert on food safety, HACCP and hygiene, provide advice support and guidance to the senior and departmental management leadership teams.
  • Further development of the internal audit process with appropriately trained team members.
  • Facilitating all internal and external audits.
  • Pest control records and documentation.
  • Acting as site champion for SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange).

Holding formal HACCP and Auditor Certification, applicants must have previous experience of industrial food hygiene standards and experience of quality improvement processes. This experience will ideally have been gained in a AIB/BRC certified, progressive, food or food packaging environment. Strong communication skills and an analytical mind are required, along with a good command of statistical and continuous improvement tools. People, as well as systems focused, you will have proven experience of developing quality systems to enhance performance.
