CDS Recruitment Limited are working with our client who are looking to expand their team a bring in a Press Tool Engineer/Team Leader on a permanent basis.
The Press Tool Engineer / Team Leader will serve as a working member within the tool room and will form part of the Team Leader structure, providing the team with technical supervision. The organisation will depend on this person's expertise and experience with complex technical activities. The Press Tool Engineer / Team Leader is responsible for project management of new product implementation, management of tool room activities, and a range of process improvement activities.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
" Providing technical support to the estimating function, highlighting any areas of technical risk at the earliest opportunity.
" Managing the "day to day" tool room activities at the Newcastle Site
" Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all press tooling, ensuring that all tooling is prepared and readied as dictated by the plant loading plan.
" Where necessary managing design and manufacture of new or replacement tooling.
" Creating well documented and robust methods for the introduction of new products.
" On larger projects, producing realistic timing plans and project managing to achieve completion on time and on budget.
" Providing timely technical support in trouble-shooting production problems.
" Investigating and compiling capital investment proposals. Ensuring robust specifications are produced, communicated and agreed with all potential suppliers of plant, equipment and tooling.
" Assisting with the training of all personnel to attain the highest possible level of multi skilling.
" Assisting with processing quality documentation such as PPAP, APQP, FMEA and Control Plans.
" Developing and managing the technical practice and standards of the Company.
" Ensuring that manufacturing plant, equipment and tooling is suitable and capable of producing the goods and services the customer requires.
" Initiating and implementing method improvement and cost saving projects.
" Playing an active role in leading LEAN and Agile business improvement.
" Supporting and developing new technologies in order to reduce cost and improve part quality.
" Responsible for all Engineering changes to tooling, including cost and feasibility studies and VFM, both in house and externally.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Essential

" Experience in Press Tool Engineering.
" Excellent communication skills.
" Management experience.
" Qualified Mechanical Engineer.
" Experience of working under ISO 9001:2008.
" Good IT skills in recording, analysing and presenting data.
" Excellent time management and organisation skills.
" Experience of CAD in a press tool environment.
" Good knowledge of lean manufacturing tools, quality systems and statistical process control (SPC).


Desirable

" Experience of AS9100 rev C or TS16949.
" Experience of LEAN Manufacturing techniques.
" Experience with Agile Manufacturing techniques.
" Experience of Presses under 150Tonnes
